Anker Soundcore Select Pro Bluetooth Portable Speaker Review

Build Quality:

The Anker Soundcore Select Pro Portable Speaker is a decently built speaker that comes in black color. Its construction is a mixture of plastic and metal with a so-so overall finish.

Design:

There is a built-in handle at the top that makes it easy to carry around. The speakers’ base consists of two protruding rubber ovals that keep the cylinder stable when set on the ground.

6 rubberized buttons (Power, Bluetooth pairing, volume up and down, LED lights button, and Bass up Button.) are located on the top panel. Whereas, the charging ports (USB and IQ) are present at the rear protected by a thick rubber flap.

The Soundcore logo is present on the front of the speaker and on the carrying handle. The RGB lighting is integrated into these speakers to create an exciting light show at night.

It’s a little heavier than the usual portable speaker, weighing in at 3.3 pounds and 4.75 x 12.00 x 6.50 inches, making it unsuitable to take on extended outdoor hiking and camping trips.

The left and right ends of the speakers have passive bass radiators which  Anker claims will deliver a thumping bass. In addition to this, the two titanium drivers at the front are protected metal grilles.

Water Resistance:

The Soundcore Select Pro has IPX7 protection, which means it can be submerged for up to a meter (3.3 feet) for 30 minutes while the rear compartment cover is shut.

The speaker can float which makes it suitable for pool parties. Keep in mind that there will be no sound from the speakers when they are fully submerged in the water.

Sound Quality:

As mentioned above Soundcore Select Pro features two (total 30 watts) titanium drivers that can play frequencies up to 40kHz. The sound is loud enough to rock outdoor parties and is a bit overkill for indoor setups.

The sound accuracy and bass response on this speaker are also something to be impressed with. Though it struggles to reproduce deep thumps and rumble in low bass, the overall sound signature is still balanced and natural.

The speaker can handle a wide range of music genres and doesn’t distort the sound even at high volumes. There are 4 preset EQs available, which can be tweaked using the Anker Soundcore app.

Connectivity control and app:

There is no 3.5mm, Jack, on the  Soundcore Select Pro Portable Speaker. So the only way you can connect it to external devices is through Bluetooth (5.0). The good thing is that the connection is very stable and we have found no issues with it.

You can connect to other portable Speakers by Anker via PartyCast. You can line up almost 100 Anker speakers with this technology all playing the same song.

Also, it comes with an app (dubbed Soundcore) that you can use to control the speaker’s settings. You can change the EQ, pair it with other Anker speakers, or manage your playback. Also, you can toggle extra base on/off both through the app and the dedicated button on the speaker.

Battery Performance:

The Anker Soundcore Select Pro Portable Speaker comes with a powerful 6700mAh battery that can last up to 16 hours of continuous playtime. This makes it a great choice for outdoor activities and trips, as you don’t have to worry about running out of power.

However, the performance takes a hit if you listen to music at high volume, charge external devices, or when the Bass Up technology is turned on. The speaker takes almost 2.5 hours to fully charge from 0-100%.

Final Words:

The Anker Soundcore Select Pro Portable Speaker is a great choice for anyone looking for a loud, durable, and water-resistant speaker. It has good sound quality and bass response with no distortion at high volumes. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack, so you can only connect it to external devices through Bluetooth
